How we started:
Being raised around horses, I was always told two things about the horse business. First- never go into the horse business because you will work yourself to the bone and never make any money. Second- never, NEVER go into the breeding business because you will not only not make money, you will lose money-LOTS OF MONEY. So here we are, in the horse business breeding horses. But our reasons for getting into breeding are about creating bloodlines, rather than money. I come from several generations of Alabama farmers and breeding for me is about creating a legacy that proves itself after many years.
Our philosophy:
The sport of eventing is a large influence on our choice of bloodlines. This means that our horses must have the scope and stamina for both stadium and xcountry jumping as well as the trainability and movement to be competitive in dressage. We are not breed-centric nor are we interested in fads. Instead, our focus is proven talent and temperament.
In order to achieve our goals, our horses are heavily influenced by the blood and refinement of the American Thoroughbred, combined with the power, movement and jumping performance of European Warmbloods.
The Program for 2008:
In the spring S.E. bred 2 mares- Starlight Belle and L'Avventura to European stallions via frozen semen.
Starlight Belle is a 5 year old anglo-arab mare standing 14.2 hands. She has a child-safe temperament, the hardiness and intelligence of an Arabian with an elegant, suspended movement and the quick athleticism of a Thoroughbred. She has been bred to bred to the young Westfalen stallion, Flavio in hopes of achieving an elegant athlete with big movement in a compact package. >>>Video of Flavio <<<<
L'Avventura (aka "Avi") is a 3 year old American Thoroughbred mare standing 16 hands. She was 2nd in the 2007 FEH classes at Champagne Run and has been a piece of cake to start undersaddle. Avi is brave, quiet natured and shows plenty of scope when free-jumping. She has been bred to the young Mecklenburg stallion Chacco Blue, in hopes of achieving a jumping powerhouse with elastic movement. >>>Video of Chacco Blue<<<
