Who we are...

Springstone Equestrian, operated by Heather Jackson, is a horse training and boarding facility located 15 miles from downtown Birmingham, AL. on Eastern Valley Road (Highway 119). The primary focus at Springstone Equestrian is training horses and riders for the sports of eventing and dressage. Our facility includes a 30 stall barn, 2 arenas with sand footing, lovely paddocks and pastures for turnout, stadium and cross country fences, and access to acres and acres of trails.

About Heather Jackson:

Heather's experience includes teaching lessons and training young horses in Greenwich, CT and Birmingham, AL, as well as successfully competing in dressage and eventing through Preliminary Level. She is a graduate H-A pony clubber and remains involved in her home pony club, Cahaba Pony Club.

In addition to her own instruction, Heather regularly brings in top level clinicians in dressage and eventing to enhance the caliber of teaching her students receive.

Our Students & Horses:

Heather's students and horses regularly compete in eventing, dressage and occasionally the hunter/jumper ring. We also have students who are beginners and/or learning how to improve their pleasure riding skills.

Congratulations Emily Culter! Emily started the new year with a new palomino pony, "Trevors Goldrush". This pair should have a great start in the dressage ring this spring and as their jumping progresses we look forward to them eventing.

Christmas Excitement- In December, Springstone Equestrian went into partnership with Gail Hilburn in the AWA mare, "Gallie Lady" (aka Gally) bred by Fran Summerlin Histed. Heather will be competing Gally in eventing and dressage in spring 2008.

Congratulations Lara Screven! In the fall of 2007 Springstone Equestrian went into a partnership with the Screvens in the purchase of "Proven Theory" (aka "Caleb"), a sportpony bred by P. Wynn Norman, the breeder of the now famous Theodore O'Conner. Caleb will be eventing at the Novice level in the spring of 2008.

Poplar Place Nov. 2007 HT - Grace Baran competed Springstone Equestrian's "Canoe Ridge" at Junior Beginner Novice and finished with a 5th place out of 20. Heather competed Springstone Equestrian's "Finisterre" (aka Jojo) at Novice and finished on their dressage score of 38.

 

 

What we do...

Training Program

Our specialty is developing horses and riders for the sports of eventing and dressage. Our lesson program builds on the fundamentals of horsemanship. Our riders range in levels from beginners to more advanced, with our more advanced riders regularly competing their horses in eventing, dressage and jumpers. Many of our young riders are members of Cahaba Pony Club and we encourage USPC events participation.

Heather also trains sporthorses ranging in age from unbroke 2 year olds to Preliminary event horses. Read more>>

Boarding Facilities

Springstone Equestrian is located at Grants Mill Equine Center, a 30 stall boarding and breeding facility located on 27 acres of rich pasture land. Boarders have access to the training facilties as well as miles of trails that begin in our back yard. Read more>>

Breeding Program

In 2008, Heather Jackson began developing a breeding program that included the breeding of several mares to European stallions. Read more>>

Clinics

S.E. regularly holds clinics with upper level clinicians to enhance the instruction offered. Boarders as well as other members of the horse community are invited to attend. Read more>>

Barefoot Sporthorses
